You cannot learn Martial Arts over the internet. thats just silly.
I sympathize with your situation, but I have to go with the first answer. You can no more learn martial arts from books or movies than you could expect to learn to fly an airplane this way. That’s because martial arts is not simply theory - it’s a practice as well. And without the practice, the theory is quite meaningless. I would even go so far as to say it’s a bad idea to emulate techniques shown on video this way without proper instruction. You will develop bad habits as no one will be there to correct you. And the devil’s in the details. It’s a very important part of martial arts and I wouldn’t recommend it.
What I would suggest you do is find some way to leave the house at least once a week. Maybe some other family member could help.
umm submissions101.com great free place to learn bjj
I agree with the previous answers which says that you can’t just simply learn martial arts from the internet. You can only learn the theories, philosophies, rules, and terminologies from the internet. Although you frequently watch some cool MA videos from youtube, I am pretty sure you can’t repeat what you watch on a real fight. You can however use the philosophies and rules, example: one of Krav Maga’s rules is not to prolong a fight, yeah I agree, you can just run away for your safety rather than trying to fight until death.
My suggestion is try to invite MA instructor to teach at your house (if your house has adequte space). You don’t have to practice inside your house, you can practice at your backyard and I’m sure practicing in backyard is better because it has more space and you get fresh air from outside. Also If a MA instructor has agreed to teach at your house, try to invite some of your friends to practice MA with you, it’ll be more exciting than practicing alone, plus you’ve got some sparring partners. Hope that helps, Good luck!!
Ok what you need is a base art. It will teach you all the things you need in your basics so as you can now use things like videos and literature to progress without making alot of dumb mistakes.
Everyone can learn from any good material, just how well you can absorb what your looking at is in question. In all sports you learn from various resources, but the understanding comes from actual experience.
Stand Up, Grapple, Ground and Pound all are cool and needed. Just take a look at what and where you want to start. And get a teacher, get a base. Then take in all you understand from all sources.
The base style matters alot, it is the very foundation you will percieve how to participate in other related games. Don’t take Tae Kwon Do if you want a ground base, and don’t take BJJ if you want a stand up base. Put em together and you have a stand up ground game. So if you take one or the other cross train is all. They are all cool, and as long as the teacher is of good character you cannot lose.
